Paul concludes his illustration of the church body being compared to the human body, reminding the people of Corinth that whether you are seen or unseen, carry honour or don’t carry honour within the church body, everyone is integral to church life, and no one is to be dishonur or devalued. Equally no one is to be elevated as being better or superior to the other.
That said, God has established an order in the church; not of importance but in sequence or prioritisation.
Apostles preceded prophets, prophets precede teachers, then comes gifts, then come abilities.
But what is an apostle? What is a prophet? Do they have place in todays church, and if so why don’t many churches have them?
As we explore the answer to these questions, we see much that is not in order in our churches, as well as the church in Corinth.
